WE ARE WOCOCON

(WOE-KOE-KON)

We are a village of surfers and fishermen
we like simple things
empty waves and local fish
wear our clothes
embody our island lifestyle

WAY OUT THERE MENTALITY.

AS WE SAID IN OUR MOTTO. WE LIKE THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE, YOU SHOULD TOO. EMBRACE THE WAY WE LIVE. SURF. FISH. CHILL.

Wococon was founded on Ocracoke Island, the most remote island in the Outer Banks. For the couple hundred people who call Ocracoke home, life revolves around the water. Nothing much better than that if you ask us. Wococon is a reflection of their lifestyle.

New Summer Arrivals

When Sir Walter Raleigh fist landed on the shores of Ocracoke in 1584 he encountered the Woccon Tribe. When he asked what the name of their country was, they replied with “Wingandacon”, which was heard as “Wococon”. The actual meaning was “You wear good clothes”. This is how Ocracoke got it’s original name, Wococon.
